Drooping eyelids can be difficult to deal with. They tend to hinder proper vision and make one feel older than they actually are. Thankfully, there are now cosmetic interventions that can address these issues.

Upneeq is an innovative topical treatment that can successfully rejuvenate the upper face region.

What is Upneeq?

Upneeq is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment that is designed to treat eyelid ptosis. This technique forgoes surgery and dermal fillers, using instead a simple eye drop formula that resolves the issue. This method enables patients to achieve a more attractive smile and upper-facial appearance without the risk or downtime associated with eyelid surgery. In some cases, patients notice that their faces look more youthful just minutes after the eyedrops are applied.

What are the benefits of Upneeq?

  • Rejuvenates the face, giving it a more appealing aesthetic
  • Reverses vision obstruction by lifting the eyelids
  • Reduces signs of aging around the eyes

Who is an ideal candidate?

Whether a patient’s drooping eyelids are the result of the natural aging process or a genetic trait that was passed down to them, they can be a source of great frustration for patients.

Eyelid ptosis is also a potential condition for patients who have undergone surgery for cataracts, use contact lenses on a regular basis, or are afflicted by certain health conditions.

Overall, Upneeq eye drops are considered to be an ideal treatment for patients who want to avoid the potential risks, pain, scars, and downtime that are often associated with surgery.

How does the treatment work?

Upneeq was designed specifically for the treatment of acquired blepharoptosis, a condition in which the upper lids become weaker and start sagging. Upneeq is defined as an alpha-adrenergic agonist that is formulated with oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, 0.1%. Oxymetazoline. Its primary ingredient works by causing the Muller’s muscle in the upper eyelid to contract, which induces a sizable lift. According to recent data, the application of these eyedrops leads to a lift of 1 to 3 millimeters, on average.

How to prepare for the procedure

As with any cosmetic procedure, the first step is for patients to meet with the practitioner and discuss all of their goals. During this time, the doctor can carry out a proper assessment of the patient’s condition and curate a treatment plan that will best address their issues. This is definitely the best course of action when preparing for Upneeq.

It is vital that the liquid be totally clear before being applied. Patients who wear contact lenses need to remove them prior to the treatment. They can then be put back in 15 minutes after the procedure is finished.

What does the Upneeq eye drop application process entail?

The Upneeq application process is remarkably similar to the application of standard eye drops. The patient must lean their head back and make sure to keep their eyes wide open. The eyedropper must be held directly above the patient’s eye before releasing the drop, which must be done one at a time. After all the drops have been applied, the patient has a chance to close their eyes and let the formula be absorbed. Patients must wait at least one minute before touching their eyes. It is also incredibly important that the vial never makes contact with the eyes, as this can cause contamination.

When will the results be perceivable?

The results are usually noticeable in a matter of minutes to hours.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime with Upneeq. That said, it is recommended that patients wait at least 15 minutes after applying the eyedrops before getting behind the wheel of a car.
