Results and recovery from rhinoplasty surgery
Rhinoplasty patients will need about two weeks’ recovery time post-surgery. Before your appointment, you should have everything that you will need already at your home, such as medications and other products to help with your recovery. You will be told during your consultation what medications and products these are, and you will be able to get most of them at our office.
When surgery is complete, you will be wearing a cast on your nose, and a drip pad under it. You will also have stitches inside and under your nose. We will give you details home care instructions so that you have as smooth a recovery as possible. (You can watch Dr. Nassif’s own rhinoplasty journey here.)
During your two weeks of recovery, your eyes will be bruised, and you will have swelling. You will experience some discomfort during these two weeks, but most patients find it to be very tolerable. You should also expect to feel very congested for a week, but do not blow your nose. This could disrupt your stitches.
You will see Dr. Nassif the day after your surgery for a checkup, and then you will see him one week after that to have your stitches and splints removed, and your cast taken off. After this comes the third post-op visit, where any tape and extra stitches will be removed. Your healing progress will be monitored, and you will be given scar gel and arnica cream, which you can begin using. Your nose will change significantly between one to two weeks, and by the third month, about 70% of the healing will be complete. At one year, it will be 90% healed, and by two years, it will be 100% healed.
