A breast reduction has three core components:
1.     Removing breast tissue to make the breast smaller
2.     Removing breast skin to tighten the skin envelope around the newly sized breast
3.     Lifting the nipple areolar complex

While a medical insurance-based breast reduction has certain requirements (i.e. for approval and how much tissue to remove), a cosmetic breast reduction can be customized to the patient’s exact aesthetic goals. For example, this lovely patient wanted a small reduction to reduce the weight of her breasts, while still looking full & proportionate. She also wanted her nipples lifted into a more youthful position. She had a ~ 200-gram reduction per breast via a wise pattern (anchor) incision. She is three months out and looking great! Her breast shape is beautiful, and she has been asked by several friends if she got implants!?! Her scars are very thin and will continue to fade over time. Even the improved appearance of her posture tells the happy story!
