What Is Motiva Preservé?

Motiva Preservé is a breast augmentation technique designed to add volume and reshape the breast while preserving more of what's already there. In conventional augmentation, a pocket for the implant is created by cutting through breast tissue or the chest muscle. Preservé uses a patented set of instruments to gradually expand the tissue from within, forming that pocket without cutting through it.

Because the breast's own tissue is repositioned around the implant, the chest muscle stays untouched, and the breast's internal support structures remain intact. The implant itself, the Motiva SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2®, is designed to move naturally with the body.

Benefits of Motiva Preservé

Smaller incisions and reduced scarring compared to traditional augmentation
Preserves natural breast tissue and supportive structures
Avoids disruption to the chest muscle
Low-inflammatory SmoothSilk® implant surface designed to minimize tissue response
Faster recovery relative to conventional breast augmentation techniques
Clinical study data reporting a 0% rate of inferior malposition at three years

Am I a Good Candidate for Motiva Preservé?

Motiva Preservé may be a good fit for women seeking primary breast augmentation in Austin, those interested in augmentation alongside a breast lift (mastopexy augmentation), or patients exploring hybrid augmentation approaches. Good candidates are in sound overall health, have realistic expectations for their outcome, and want an approach that preserves more of the breast's natural structure than conventional techniques allow. A consultation with one of the board-certified surgeons at Austin Face & Body is the most reliable way to determine whether Preservé aligns with your anatomy, goals, and surgical history.

What to Expect During Your Motiva Preservé Procedure

Before Your Procedure

Pre-operative instructions are provided by your surgeon and tailored specifically to your health profile. These typically include stopping smoking well ahead of the procedure, pausing certain medications or supplements, and fasting the night before. You will also need to arrange for a ride home and have someone available to assist you during the first 24 hours of recovery.

Creating the Breast Pocket

Motiva Preservé is performed under general anesthesia. Through a small incision, your surgeon introduces the Channel Separator to open a tunnel through the breast tissue without engaging the chest muscle. The Inflatable Balloon is then guided into the tunnel and expanded gradually, elongating the surrounding tissue to form a pocket above the muscle. Once the pocket is properly shaped, the Ergonomix2® implant is placed through the Insertion Sleeve using a no-touch technique, and the incision is closed.

Immediately After Your Procedure

You will be monitored while the anesthesia clears and will be released the same day once your care team confirms you are ready. Some swelling and mild discomfort are typical in the first few days and can be managed with prescribed medication. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to track healing and confirm that your results are developing as planned.

Motiva Preservé Recovery

Recovery from Motiva Preservé is generally faster than with traditional breast augmentation. Because the technique avoids cutting through the chest muscle and minimizes disruption to breast tissue, patients often find that discomfort and downtime are more limited than they expect. Most patients return to light daily activity within a few days and desk-based work within one to two weeks. Your surgeon will advise when it is safe to return to strenuous activity, including upper-body exercise.

Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided specific to your procedure and recovery timeline. A supportive bra is recommended for the initial healing period, and follow-up visits are scheduled at regular intervals to monitor your progress and address any questions as they arise.

Motiva Preservé Results

Most patients see early changes in their breast shape within the first few weeks as swelling resolves, with final results taking full shape over the following months as the implants settle. Because the procedure repositions the breast's own tissue around the implant, the outcome integrates naturally with your existing anatomy. The silhouette looks proportionate and feels like your own. The Motiva implant's lifetime warranty against rupture backs every result with a meaningful long-term guarantee.

Motiva Preservé
FAQs

How is Motiva Preservé different from subglandular or subpectoral placement?

Standard breast augmentation creates a pocket by cutting through breast tissue, the chest muscle, or both. Preservé does neither. Instead, the Inflatable Balloon gradually stretches the tissue to form the pocket from within, leaving the chest muscle intact and the breast's internal support structures undisturbed.

Can patients who have had previous breast surgery be candidates for Motiva Preservé?

Prior breast surgery may affect candidacy depending on what was performed, how scar tissue has formed, and what the current anatomy looks like. Your surgeon will review your full surgical history during the consultation to determine whether Preservé is the right fit for your anatomy.

What makes the SmoothSilk® implant surface different from textured implants?

The SmoothSilk® surface is designed to reduce the body's response to the implant, with lower inflammation and less tissue attachment compared to textured surfaces. Clinical data on the device shows no association with BIA-ALCL, a rare implant-related condition that has been linked to certain textured implants.

What is the Woman's Choice Program® and what warranties come with Motiva Preservé?

The Woman's Choice Program® is a Motiva initiative that provides up to $1,500 in financial support if a patient later decides to reverse her augmentation. Motiva Preservé also includes the Always Confident Warranty® covering implant rupture for the lifetime of the device, a replacement policy if capsular contracture (scar tissue around the implant) becomes severe enough to require intervention, and a 5-Year Extended Warranty at no additional cost. Specific program terms and regional availability should be confirmed with your surgeon and Motiva directly.

Are there specific implant sizes or profiles available with Preservé?

The SmoothSilk® Ergonomix2® implant is available in a range of sizes and profiles, allowing for meaningful customization based on body frame, chest width, and aesthetic goals.

What are the risks of Motiva Preservé?

As with any surgical procedure, Motiva Preservé carries risks including infection, changes in nipple or breast sensation, scarring, and the possibility of implant rupture or the need for additional procedures over time. The tissue-sparing nature of the technique is intended to reduce certain complications associated with traditional augmentation, but it does not eliminate surgical risk.

Will Motiva Preservé affect my ability to breastfeed?

The technique is designed to minimize disruption to breast tissue, which may support a more favorable environment for breastfeeding than approaches involving more extensive dissection. That said, any breast surgery can affect milk production or delivery depending on individual anatomy.

How soon after having children is it safe to consider Motiva Preservé?

Surgeons generally recommend waiting until you have completed your family and finished breastfeeding before pursuing any breast augmentation. Future pregnancies can alter breast shape, size, and tissue, which may affect long-term results.
