Post fellowship, Dr. Dumestre started practice in Edmonton, Alberta, where she also served as assistant professor of plastic surgery at the University of Alberta, and enjoyed teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. In search of a warmer climate, she moved to Austin, Texas where she has enjoyed a specialized breast reconstructive practice with a focus on DIEP flap surgery. Her love of breast reconstruction extends to cosmetic breast, where she applies her reconstructive skills to deal with challenging breast asymmetry cases, including the tuberous breast.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Danielle Dumestre will be joining Austin Face and Body as our newest plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
Dr. Dumestre will begin seeing patients end of September 2026.
Meet Dr. Dumestre
Dr. Dumestre is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon and fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, specializing in breast reconstruction, aesthetic breast and body surgery, and transgender top surgery. Dr. Dumestre also holds a subspecialty microsurgery fellowship from UT Southwestern.
Her mission is to help people achieve their ideal physical expression of self, while fostering an environment of optimism, self-love, and kindness. Regardless of what you are seeking treatment for, Dr. Dumestre values a respectful, judgment-free atmosphere. She will work with you to achieve your best result, prides herself on listening closely to her patient’s goals, and provides meticulous, individually tailored care.
Dr. Dumestre completed both medical school and her plastic and reconstructive surgery residency training at the University of Calgary. During residency, she was exposed to the wide breadth of Plastic Surgery, and found her preferred niche in breast cancer reconstruction, particularly microsurgery, as well as body contouring procedures.
Building on her passion for breast reconstruction, Dr. Dumestre pursued a supplementary microsurgery fellowship in Dallas at UT Southwestern, a leading US cancer care center with experts in the field of microsurgery. During her fellowship, Dr. Dumestre gained subspecialized free-flap skills, allowing her to offer efficient DIEP flap breast reconstruction as well as customized free tissue transfer from other sites (ex: low back, inner thigh) to address her patients unique needs.
Personal
Dr. Dumestre is an energetic, positive person who thrives on human connection and interaction. She loves sunshine and being outdoors. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and baby girl, socializing with friends and family, listening to music, and all things active, particularly yoga, wakesurfing, and bike riding.
