Procedure: The invasiveness of body contouring procedures can range from completely non-invasive to maximally invasive. While surgical operations (the maximally invasive treatments) usually produce the most dramatic changes, not every patient needs a big operation with large scars to produce a beautiful aesthetic result. The correct operation totally depends on a patient’s anatomy, aesthetic goals, and medical history.

I consult with a lot of patients regarding upper arm contouring. This is an incredibly stubborn area to correct on your own with just diet and exercise. While patients can fill the area with muscle somewhat, there just isn’t a great exercise to help improve skin laxity.

Non-invasive treatments are difficult in the upper arm, because of the contour of the arm. A maximally invasive brachioplasty removes a wedge of skin and subcutaneous fat from the arm, but essentially leaves a scar from the armpit to the elbow. This is often the right procedure for patient who have lost a lot of weight. This wonderful 63-year-old patient wanted and needed something minimally invasive to remove a small amount of fat and tighten the skin. I performed in-office liposuction to mechanically remove the fat and Bodytite & Morpheus 8 to tighten the skin under local anesthesia. Here she is 4 months out from surgery! Her surgical results are incredible, but she also put in the hard work of eating healthy and exercising regularly to optimize her outcome!
