The thighs can be a difficult area to shape with diet and exercise alone. If you’ve been unable to sculpt a firmer body on your own, a surgical thigh lift in Austin with our team can smooth away excess skin and tighten the underlying tissues, revealing a slender, better-proportioned body contour.

A holistic approach that puts you first.

No patient’s body is exactly the same, and it’s important to select a plastic surgeon who understands that. At Austin Face & Body, we’ve performed countless thigh lifts – and each one has been customized to meet the individual’s needs. When planning your surgery, we’ll take into account your medical history, blood type, lifestyle, body shape and aesthetic goals to ensure that our approach and the results are aligned with your expectations.

What is a thigh lift?

Cellulite, excess skin, and fat cells often accumulate on the thighs, resulting in a heavier, older appearance. A thigh lift can address these issues and reshape the legs, creating a firmer lower body contour. This surgery delivers such an incredible transformation that our Austin patients report improved self-esteem, a better quality of life, and an easier time finding clothes that fit.

Although small amounts of fat can be removed along with excess skin during this procedure, the thigh lift is not an alternative to liposuction. If you have a large volume of excess fat you’d like to remove, our Austin plastic surgeons may recommend liposuction in conjunction with a thigh lift to deliver the results you want.

Am I a candidate for a thigh lift?

In general, the ideal candidate for a thigh lift at Austin Face & Body is men and women who:

  • Are at a stable weight and in good general health
  • Have excess skin along the inner and/or outer thighs
  • Are committed to a healthy nutrition and fitness routine moving forward

Your consultation: Planning your transformation

During your private consultation at our Austin office, we will customize your thigh lift based on your unique body and goals. We will provide you with a step-by-step overview of your surgery, recovery, and expected results, and you will leave knowing exactly what to expect from your thigh lift.

The procedure:

What to expect

To begin your thigh lift, our plastic surgeons will administer general anesthesia to ensure your comfort and safety. From there, we will create an incision based on the location of your excess skin:

  • Inner thigh. If you’re addressing your inner thighs, we may place the incision in the groin and extending down and around the back of the thighs or in the groin and down to the knee. If you qualify for a minimal incision inner thigh lift, we will only need to make one small opening in the groin area.
  • Outer thigh. To remove excess skin on the outer thigh, you will require an incision that begins at the groin and extends around the hip and across your back.

Through those openings, your surgeon will gently elevate the underlying tissues; remove excess fat and skin; and smooth and re-shape the area. From there, we will close the incisions with care to ensure that the resulting scars are faint, and can be easily hidden with clothing and swimwear.

Making the choice:

Is a mini thigh lift right for you?

Some of our Austin patients qualify for a mini thigh lift, which is a less intensive procedure. During a mini thigh lift, we will make one small incision in the groin area. Through that opening, we can remove excess skin and fat on the upper part of your inner thighs only. This isn’t the right option for everyone, but those who qualify will enjoy an easier recovery period and virtually imperceptible scarring.

Recovery

After surgery, we will apply bandages to your incisions and place small tubes under the skin to drain excess fluid. Your recovery time will depend on the complexity and extent of the surgery. As you heal, it’s important to rest often and avoid moving your legs. Most of our Austin patients need to take seven to ten days off from work. Bruising and swelling typically persist for one month.

Your results

Immediately after surgery, your new thigh contour will be obscured by swelling, bruising and compression garments. As you heal, your results will become more apparent. It can take up to a year for the results to be considered final.

Investment

We will determine the cost of your thigh lift during your private consultation. In general, the investment will depend on the type of thigh lift you select – and whether you address your inner thighs, your outer thighs, or both.
